Perfecting The Ponytail! 2016 Rio Olympics Edition
It seems like the easiest hairdo, but, in fact… it’s one of the most challenging! The PONYTAIL. First, let’s have a little history lesson. According to HairEssentials.com, ponytails were seen in frescoes on the Greek women dating as far back as 1600 B.C.! The word “ponytail” entered the American vernacular in 1951, according to Merriam-Webster.
With the 2016 Rio Olympics here, plenty of star athletes are sporting their sleek ponytails!
You don’t want any of those annoying bumps or odd creases, so let’s look to Team USA’s Gymnastics competitors, Aly Raisman and Madison Kocian for inspiration.
Here are my two ultimate pointers to achieve the perfect ponytail:
Follow the contour of the cheekbone
Brush up towards the crown
This creates the most flattering angle for Olympic pony’s as it’s good for all face shapes!
